Ilias Bourgiotis was born in Athens. He works as a freelance photographer for various Greek magazines and newspapers. He has presented his work in several group and solo exhibitions in museums, galleries, and festivals of photography in Greece as well as the United States, Italy, France, Belgium, Finland, Switzerland, Denmark, Slovakia, Croatia, and Spain. A selection of his photographs is part of the permanent collection of the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art and Thessaloniki Museum of Photography.

His latest work (November 2015) The Gaze of Eternity is a tribute to the film maker Theo Angelopoulos, including back stage pictures from Angelopoulos's last movies, and mostly from his unfinished film The Other Sea.
