Yes, the search for True Love is hard.
But it’s twice as hard when you have two penises.

«My new novel. It starts with the award-winning, BBC broadcast prologue, "The Orphan and the Mob", and continues with Jude's quest for True Love in Tipperary, Galway, the Aran Islands, and Dublin... Love, death, arson, philosophy, and sex. Starring Jude, an orphan who looks the spit of Leonardo DiCaprio. Except for having two penises. Which makes True Love...complicated». Τhis is how Julian Gough himself introduces his novel in his site.

The only thing one perhaps should add to the above is that his novel follows the great irish tradition of satire developed by Lawrence Stern, Daniel Defoe, Jonathan Swift, James Joyce. This, par excellence, Irish «genre» is mainly based on the tradition of Ovidian transformations and Rabelaisian gigantism: Exaggerated humour, total absurd situations, gigantic proportions in everything, this is how the Irish traditionally perceive reality and how Julian Gough depicts contemporary gloabalized world.

«Perfect, perfect comedy. A cross between Flann O’ Brien, Father Ted and Morrissey. The best comic novel I’ve ever read».
Tommy Tiernan
