Born in the village Kadros of Crete, Eftichios Bitsakis studied Chemistry (University of Athens), Theoritical Physics and Philisophy (University of Paris). He is a doctor of Philosophy (University of Paris VIII) and Docteur d’Etat (France, Philosophy of Science). He taught Mathematics at the University of Paris Sud, and Philosophy of Sciences at the University of Paris VIII.
After his return to Greece (1976), Bitsakis worked as “principal researcher” in the National Institute of Scientific Research (Theoretical Physics). He was elected professor of Philosophy at the University of Ioannina (1980). During six years Bitsakis has been the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of this University. As an assistant Professor of Philosophy in the University of Athens, he taught in the Department of Physics a course concerning the foundations of Physics (Relativity and Quantum Mechanics).
Bitsakis published many papers in specialised journals (Foundations of Physics, Physics essays, Annales de la Fondation Louis de Broglie, Cahiers Fundamenta Scientiae, Epistémologiques etc), many papers in greek language and many contributions in Proceedings of Meeting on Physics and Philosophy.
Also Bitsakis published many books in Paris which have been translated in different languages.
