In his second Photo Book titled Jazz Moments Andreas Zacharatos approaches the Greek and international Jazz music scene, capturing the spirit and vigor of Jazz. Every note is translated into a “click” and every emotion is rendered into a photographic composition.

It is obvious that apart from all his other interests, Zacharatos worked for many years with Jazz musicians in action or at rest and very rarely in posing. But we hadn’t met before. In a mysterious way we were united by the town of Matera in Italy in autumn 2014. Since then we browsed together many of his albums and in two concerts, with me and Georgia Sillaiou, the photographs he took confirmed his dedication to the people, their bodies and the expressiveness consistent with each piece - concentration, intensity, euphoria, ecstasy. Moreover, one of his general characteristics is the manner he uses artistically the lighting of the faces and the spaces, the shadows and the flashes, the details of the body and of the musical instruments, the random or selected contours. When the musicians are not disturbed by someone who lurks with a lens and wanders on stage, it means that they trust the photographer’s criteria. This is absolutely the case with Andreas Zacharatos. His presence radiates courtesy and he always moves with ease and latitude but also with discretion. This is confirmed by the printed result, because his photographs are not static. You can see that they have dynamism. They stimulate the viewer to define the sound and to extend the music outside the frame of the picture.

From the preface of Sakis Papadimitriou
